Parkway East ramp closures, traffic restrictions set this weekend - WTAE Pittsburgh

PennDOT has announced the following construction work and traffic restrictions on Interstate 376 (Parkway East) in Pittsburgh this weekend.The Boulevard of the Allies ramp to the outbound (eastbound) Parkway East will be closed, starting at 8 p.m. Friday and continuing through 5:30 a.m. Monday.Here is the posted detour:Continue southbound on the Boulevard of the Allies past the closed rampTurn right onto Bates StreetTurn left onto the ramp to East 376 toward MonroevilleDuring that time, there will also be single-lane restrictions in both directions of the Parkway East under the closed ramp.In addition, the inbound (westbound) Parkway East will be reduced to one lane between Exit 73B (Oakland) and Exit 72B (Boulevard of the Allies/Liberty Bridge) from 7 p.m. Friday through about noon Saturday. The single-lane configuration will stay in place between the Oakland exit and Exit 73A (Glenwood) from Saturday afternoon until 5 a.m. Monday.The Glenwood off-ramp from inbound I-376 (Exit 73A) will be closed during the expansion dam work from 7 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.Here is the detour:Continue past the closed rampTake the Grant Street off-ramp (Exit 71A)Turn right onto First AvenueTurn left onto B StreetTurn right onto Second AvenueFollow Second Avenue to Bates StreetEnd detour"We're just encouraging folks to avoid the Parkway East inbound this weekend. Expect major delays and provide extra time if you're going to be going that route," PennDOT assistant construction engineer John Myler said.The restrictions will be in place to allow for expansion dam replacement work."The crews will be replacing expansion dams along two structures along the Parkway East, and those are critical in ensuring that water doesn't get down to the substructure of the bridges," Myler said.

  • Turn right onto Bates Street
  • Turn left onto the ramp to East 376 toward Monroeville
